Inflight Training Supervisor

Location: Vandalia, OH (Corporate Headquarters, Learning Center)
Department: Inflight - Training
Reports to:  Manager of Inflight Training

Summary/Objective:  The Inflight Training Supervisor is responsible for supervision and scheduling of PSA’s Inflight training staff. This position works in conjunction with the Inflight Standards Supervisor to ensure all training is delivered according to FAA and PSA requirements. The Inflight Training Supervisor is responsible for the department in the absence of the Manager of Inflight Training.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervision and scheduling of Inflight Training Specialists, including evaluation of Instructor performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement
  • Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops
  • Conduct Inflight Instructor meetings
  • Assist with the interview process for Inflight Training Specialists
  • Coaching, counseling and performance reviews
  • Collaborate with Inflight Standards Supervisor to ensure consistent application of all training curricula
  • Retain qualification and currency as a PSA Airlines Flight Attendant on all aircraft types to which flight attendant personnel are assigned
  • Acquire and maintain comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements (CFRs, TSRs, DOTs, security directives), company policies and procedures
  • Departmental oversight in Manager of Inflight Training’s absence
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and company

Travel:  Occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Flight Attendant experience and certification. (External candidates will need to successfully complete PSA's Flight Attendant training program and become certified before transitioning into this role.)
  • Three to five years of experience in a supervisory position, preferably in the aviation field.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects desired.
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field of study is a plus.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: 

  • Ability to obtain a SIDA badge at the Dayton airport
  • Working knowledge of federal aviation regulations, CFR Part 121.
  • Diversity, employee and union relations training.

Supervisory Responsibility:  This position has direct supervisory responsibility for all full and part-time Inflight Training Specialists.

Work Environment:  This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb up and down stairs; When serving as a flight attendant must, in performance of those duties, lift weight up to 42 lbs.; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:  This is a full-time position with an expectation of occasional on site office coverage on evenings and weekend as job duties demand. Days and hours of work in the office environment are generally Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
