Assistant Chief Inspector
 
Department: Maintenance
Location: Vandalia, OH
Reports to: Chief Inspector
 
Summary/Objective: The Assistant Chief Inspector oversees the Quality Control team and is directly responsible to the Chief Inspector. The successful incumbent will be a team player possessing excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
 
Essential Functions:  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Provide direct supervision for all Quality Control Supervisors (12+), including coaching, performance management, and meeting team goals and metrics.
  • Audit the Inspection Program Manual to ensure it complies with the MRB.
  • Perform audits of the DTA program.
  • Indoctrination, recurrent and any necessary update training of Inspectors or Lead/RII.
  • Ensure Airworthiness Directives being performed are in compliance with the Airworthiness Directive.
  • Oversee the tracking of calibrated tools.
  • Oversee the NDT training to ensure we have sufficient qualified staffing.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Control Supervisors and Maintenance Planning Department on the scheduled work load for each aircraft to ensure sufficient time and access is provided to complete the maintenance.
  • Make recommendations for possible adjustments in methods and procedures to increase safety, compliance and aircraft reliability.
  • Oversee the maintenance facility to ensure compliance with company policy.
  • Issue Temporary RII Authorizations as necessary.
  • Make recommendations covering inspection personnel staffing level requirements.
  • The Assistant Chief Inspector may delegate any of his/her duties to any qualified assistant as he/she deems necessary. However, such delegation does not relieve him/her of overall responsibilities.
  • Comply with applicable company policies, procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Inspector.
Required Education and Experience: 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, technical or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Current A&P License
  • 3+ years' experience on large aircraft with 2+ years as a maintenance inspector
  • 2+ years’ Supervisory experience required; 5+ years preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable FAR’s and PSA General Maintenance Manual
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:  
  • Part 121 experience
  • Ability to speak/read/write in English
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office programs

Security Clearance:  All employees are required to pass the fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) per 49CFR1542.209 and pre-employment drug screen. Ability to obtain SIDA access may be required for this role.
 
Supervisory Responsibility:  This is a supervisory position.
 
Work Environment:  This job operates most of the time inside a climate controlled building and some of the time outside in all types of weather.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.
 
Physical Demands:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; climb up and down stairs; bend/stoop; occasionally push/pull and lift weight up to 75 lbs.; use hands to grasp, finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  On rare occasions may be required to crawl, use fine manipulations, kneeling, and repetitive motion.
 
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:  This is a full-time position with an expectation of occasional extended periods of time as necessary to support airline operations. 
 
Travel:  Some travel may be required for this position.
